KARINA A. MILLER

Karina Miller has a general practice focused on family law, criminal defense, and estate planning. She is licensed to practice in the state courts of Iowa.

She went to the University of South Dakota to run track and earn a double major, with distinction, in Criminal Justice and Journalism. As a four-time letterwinner of the Coyotes, Karina was a member of the 2018 Outdoor Summit League Conference Championship team. She consistently earned honors on the Summit League Academic Honor roll, the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence, and the University of South Dakota’s Dean’s list.

Karina graduated from The University of Iowa College of Law a semester early, earning a Juris Doctor with distinction, in 2021. While there, she received the Jurisprudence Award for Academic Excellence for a paper she wrote on the intersection between Child Welfare and Human Trafficking. She was a Certified Law Student Practitioner for two semesters in the Federal Criminal Public Defense Clinic. During this time, she won a motion to suppress. 

 

During law school, Karina was recognized for her community involvement as a member of the Pro Bono Society, which is awarded to those who serve a minimum of 15 hours a semester in their community. She was President of the Equal Justice Foundation and participated in Moot Court and Trial Advocacy.

Being connected in the Iowa community is important to Karina. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Iowa City Free Medical & Dental Clinic. She serves on the Johnson County Human Trafficking Coalition, and the Iowa Network Against Human Trafficking and Slavery. She is currently on the board of the Dean Mason Ladd Inn of Court. She is active in the Johnson County and Iowa Bar associations and the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys.
